Principal Enterprise Applications Business Analyst (Financial Processing)

Position Summary

The University Information Technology Services Department invites applicants to apply for the position of Principal Enterprise Applications Business Analyst (Financial Processing) to manage the business analysis functions and staff that support the following systems: UAccess Financials, Research and the payroll, time and labor, commitment account sections of the UAccess Employee. This position will work closely with the Financial Services, Budget, and Sponsored Projects Offices to ensure the financial system supports the University's accounting and financial operations.

Note: UAccess Financials is the Kuali Financial System (KFS) which is an open-source java-based enterprise financial system built under the direction of the Kuali Foundation (http://kuali.org). The foundation is a consortium of higher education institutions comprised of several universities, colleges and community colleges that have contributed to the development of several applications.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Oversees the operations of the UAccess Financials, Research and UAccess Employee Payroll, Time and Labor and Commitment Accounting business analysts sections.
  • Acts as conduit and coordinator among the business offices, the technical support team and business intelligence team.
  • Manages interactions with the Kuali Foundation related to the financial and research systems.
  • Coordinates release management and testing for bug fixes, enhancements and other system changes.
  • Retains and manages contract resources when necessary.
  • Coordinates the updating of the UAccess Financial, Research and Employee systems software to maintain compliance with local, state, and federal government reporting requirements and tax filings.
  • Sets standards, establishes processes, and identifies metrics to measure progress against goals.
  • Manages goal setting and performance evaluation activities for business analysts' career development and succession planning.
  • Understands the business requirements and effectively communicates with the business offices on accounting and financial operation issues and activities to help prioritize needs.

 

Minimum Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in accounting or business administration, or equivalent business experience, AND 10+ years of progressively responsible experience in a large company, or higher education institution.

 

Preferred Qualifications

  • Certified Public Accountant or Certified Management Accountant designations.
  • Knowledge of grants and contract award processes used in a higher educational environment.
  • Experience implementing or upgrading enterprise financial applications (e.g., Kuali Financial System, Oracle, PeopleSoft, of SAP) for a large company or higher education institution.
  • Experience in Higher Education accounting practices and requirements.
  • Supervisory experience.
