mobile app

August 3rd, 2011 – San Diego, CA – VivanTech, a premier Kuali commercial affiliate, announced today the release of KC Mobile Application 2.0. VivanTech is an active member of the Kuali community, focusing on KFS, KC, and KPME implementations and support. To meet the growing “on-the-go” demands that many research universities have voiced in the past, VivanTech has enhanced the KC Mobile App, which can be customized for each individual university’s needs.

The application allows users to log in from their mobile device using the VivanTech Secure Authentication Proxy and allows them to customize personal settings, page views, and more. The KC Mobile App 2.0 can be up and running for customized and personal use within minutes.

The KC application allows users to view Approvals, Acknowledgements, and FYIs, and gives them the option of turning any of these off for a more refined action list experience. For each item, whether it is a notice of proposal, notice of award, or award terms and conditions, all of the relevant data is available for review. The ability to take action is at your fingertips with an “Immediate Approval” feature that puts the power directly into the palms of mobile users.

One of the most powerful features of the application is the colorKue ™ detail. It presents the action items (Approvals, Acknowledgements and FYIs) in a color-coded, and prioritized manner. The colorKue ™ has received positive feedback from the testers and has proven valuable to many who are involved in the document life cycle even including those who are color sight-impaired; due to the lettering in each button.

“We have been working very closely with user groups over the past few months to create the KC Mobile App 2.0 and are very excited to offer it to the Kuali community,” states VivanTech Mobile Division Lead Developer Shaun Prescod.

The standard KC Mobile App 2.0 is a license-free tool to the Kuali community. An initial consulting engagement is necessary to integrate the KC add-ons that VivanTech has developed. These add-ons are at the core of providing the functionality and security offered by our mobile applications. Mobile clients will also benefit from a small fee-based support and maintenance agreement, which comes with toll-free phone support. Ongoing support will include new features in future product releases, and prevent mobile app disruptions due to KC releases by the foundation, and upgrades by mobile device OS vendors.

Kuali is an expanding community of universities, colleges, businesses, and other business organizations that have partnered to build and sustain open source software for higher education. Offering an application of this nature for all KC adopters allows for more options, freedom, and flexibility, all at one’s fingertips.
