Responsibilities:

• Design and develop robust web applications using J2EE programming model and patterns
• Participate in periodic code reviews
• Work directly with business stakeholders to clarify requirements and solve various IT issues.
• Collaborate with other developers, architects, and analysts in creating innovative solutions that meet the needs of the business
• Review and contribute to the development of requirements, technical specifications and design documentation.
• Follow establish standards, methodologies, and control processes
• Assist in continuous improvement efforts in enhancing performance and providing increased functionality
• Produce documentation related to design and implementation work

Qualifications:

• Demonstrated knowledge with object-oriented analysis and design techniques
• SUN Java Certification is a plus
• Knowledge and experience with enterprise workflow solutions
• Excellent collaboration, interpersonal, written and verbal communication skills
• Ability to work independently and to be accountable for your work
• Comfort with an open collaboration model in which all team members take shared responsibility for the quality of the system’s design, code, automated testing procedures, and documentation
• BA/BS/MS from a four-year university/college or equivalent professional work experience

Skills Required:

• 3-5 years of professional software engineering experience, preferably in server-side web development using open source technologies
• 3-5 years of experience with J2EE include Servlets, JSP, Struts, Spring, OJB, Hibernate
• Experience with MySQL, Oracle, and/or MS SQL

• Demonstrated experience in writing customer requirements and technical documentation
• Experience working through the entire software development lifecycle:
  • Architectural design based on accepted design patterns
  • Coding using Eclipse, WSAD, etc.
  • Version Control using SVN & CVS, etc.
  • Unit testing (junit)
  • Debugging
  • Building & Deploying (Ant, Maven, Tomcat, etc.)
  • Documentation (javadoc & good communication skills)
• Experience working in a software consulting firm with clients to develop custom business applications
• Experience developing web site front-ends with HTML, JavaScript, and CSS
• Kuali or Higher Education background experience is highly desirable
