VivanTech, Inc. is seeking a Business Analyst to be part of the Kuali Coeus (KC) team in San Diego or Los Angeles. KC is an open source enterprise research administration application for the higher education. The Business Analyst is a crucial role in creating and maintaining the strategic partnership between the business needs of the clients and technology delivery in an agile development environment. The successful candidate will possess a strong background in research administration systems, business analysis, and knowledge of implementing web-based applications. He/She will have the ability to plan, organize, implement, direct and evaluate processes and functions; to effectively coordinate a variety of activities simultaneously; to analyze programs and determine solutions; to demonstrate leadership and organizational skills, as well as display a strong work ethic. He/She will also possess excellent oral and written communication skills as well as interpersonal relation and critical thinking skills.

Responsibilities:

  • Elicits requirements using interviews, document analysis, workshops, surveys, business process descriptions, use cases, scenarios, business analysis, tasks and workflow analysis.
  • Develops roadmap, requirements and specification documentation
  • Works with development teams to translate business requirements into technical requirements
  • Provides timely reports on institutional business requirements gathering for weekly reporting.
  • Analyzes and critically evaluates information gathered from multiple sources, reconciles conflicts and decomposes high-level information into details. Abstracts up from low-level information to a general understanding. Distinguishes user requests from the underlying true needs.
  • Serves as the conduit between the customer community (internal and external customers) and the software development or business process re-engineering team through which requirements flow.
  • Develops requirements specifications according to standard templates
  • Participates in project meetings to review project deliverables and timelines. Works with quality assurance personnel to ensure product adequately meets all functional needs defined in scope of project.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in computer science, accounting, or another technology-related field
  • 5 or more years of industry experience in business analysis and/or software development
  • Experience leading detailed requirements and specification activities
  • Excellent written/oral communication skills
  • Exceptional presentation and meeting facilitating skills
  • Proficient in MS Project and PowerPoint

Desired:

  • Experience in Kuali Coeus is a plus or any research administration systems
  • Experience working in higher education is strongly desired
  • Experience in working as part of an agile development environment
  • Experience working with open or community source project software and teams
  • Experience working on a geographically dispersed project team

Employment Status:

A full-time (40 hrs/week)
